About Cassandre

Cassandre is a free, open-source web application for qualitative research. It helps researchers document and structure their analysis through an evolving research diary.

Purpose and Functionality

Cassandre supports iterative and interpretive research by linking observations, notes, concepts, and analytical decisions. It is designed for inductive and abductive approaches rather than deductive, quantitative or automated text analysis.

Key Features

  • Structured research diary with different types of notes.
  • Links between notes, observations, evidence, and interpretations.
  • Text search, concordances, and semi-automatic indexing.
  • Selective sharing, comments, and collaborative analysis.
  • Conceptual diagrams and browser-based access.

Applications

Cassandre is suited to ethnography, grounded-theory research, and other qualitative studies based on fieldwork or interviews. It is useful for researchers, students, and teams who need to trace how interpretations and concepts develop over time.
